Apple Watch Series 9 & Ultra 2

Apple Watch Series 9

We already know that these two watches, the Apple Watch Series 9 and the new Ultra 2, are not for those who have the latest Apple Watch.
These are iterative updates for those who don`t have an Apple Watch,
or have a very old Apple Watch, such as a Series 3.
Something like that. So you really have to squint and put it next to the previous version to really see what's different from the previous generation. But also that,
Some of the really new stuff with these watches isn't even shipped right away. This will happen later this year.

- You'll understand what I mean. Specifications increased So I'll make this review very simple for you guys here.  It's just a change in specifications. Apple Watch Series 9 is a specification upgrade
on series 8, and the new Ultra 2 has the same specifications compared to the original Ultra. Basically, there's a new color . This pink color is on the series 9 that I have. And it's similar to the new pink iPhone. It's kind of a light, salmon color. Beyond that, to be honest, we could never even tell
if anyone is wearing a new watch. I'm actually wearing this new Ultra 2 It's been over a week now. No one asked about it. No one can tell because it's exactly the same. There are rumors going around
to much speculation about a black Apple Watch.
Maybe you've seen this too.
And That seems to be something everyone agrees on was probably about to happen. And it makes a lot of sense because there's always something Apple is doing to visually distinguish the new from the less new. But I think what happened was Apple had to test it, and then they started to realize what was going on to the titanium coating on a piece that focuses on durability like a watch. It's a bit similar to the new iPhone . Get these new colors with PVD coating on titanium for the iPhone. 15 Pro. But it's a phone. So people put it in a case, and they're a little more careful with it.
But on an adventure watch.
where you expect people to run out and hit it and scrape it and drag it over rocks and sand and all that stuff, I think they realize that it might struggle to perform well. So we just don't understand. It looks exactly the same.

Performance Apple Watch Series 9 & Ultra 2

Apple Watch Series 9 & Ultra 2

Anyway, okay, what are the new spec improvements?
That's S9. The new S9 chip inside this phone or the integrated system, SIP, as it is called,
Literally everything new in these watches comes from this S9. So, first of all, it's a faster performance chip and opening and closing apps, notifications and things like that, everything is technically faster. art. Honestly, it's not that noticeable just because you don't really do much on the watch and the refresh rate is exactly the same.
But It's also a more energy-efficient chip, which you would always want to see in a small battery-powered device like a watch. But Apple is actually aiming for 18 hours of battery life like it usually does and is instead increasing the maximum brightness of the new Series 9 display up to 2,000 thanks to the new display driver silicon. And on Ultra 2, this number now increases from 2,000 to 3,000 times the maximum brightness. So it's no surprise that they look great outdoors You don't necessarily see it right away and notice that it's getting brighter.. It's really only when you put it next to the last one that you can at least appreciate how impressive it is. 3,000 nits really is
the brightest display Apple has ever put on any device ever made. The S9 package also includes a new Ultra Wideband chip that allows for accurate scanning of your iPhone. Basically, Find My iPhone
Previously, the watch only made sounds to play from your iPhone.
But now, with a watch, you can find out exactly.
where Your phone is kind of like an AirTag. Even more useful if your phone is like,
in between some couch cushions or something, or if it's playing sound echoing in a weird way.
I think this is a great ecosystem feature. I'm sure many people will like it. And the S9 package also has twice as much memory built in now and a double-the-speed neural engine,
This combination makes serial requests faster and allows you to process all Siri requests on your device without an internet connection. So at this point, Siri is pretty famous for occasionally stopping and not answering questions or just pausing because you have a bad Internet connection. So that makes a big difference. Basically, asking him normal questions is pretty quick. The transformer model built into the device is also a bit more accurate. Now, Apple hasn't actually specified which of Siri's requests take place entirely on the device, but if we're just using our inference here, what I understand is that almost all of the voice processing It all happens on the device, from the S9, and then anything that actually goes online to search for something, that's when it comes back again and again. So things like setting a timer will always be nice and fast, regardless of your internet connection, because it's all on the device.
But if you ask how tall is the Empire State Building is, it will process your voice quickly, but it still needs a good Internet connection to do the rest quickly. It's also supposed to be able to access your health data and be able to send it with just your voice, because it's all on the device, local and secure, but that's one of the the few things that should have come later
- Later this year.
- So at the time I tried the items in speech I only got responses that were unanswered and had errors.

Double tap FEATURE

Apple Watch Ultra 2

But Then the big feature, a really cool new thing that stands out to me in this generation of watches.
what's really innovative is the double tap action. This double tap feature is like a perfect symphony
Impressive processing power, intelligent computing and high-quality sensors all combined
gives you something really new and to be honest, I wasn't expecting any other smartwatch to be replicable, at least in the near future. So that's it. Simply double-tap your thumb and index finger on the same side as you wear the watch to select items on the watch. So I guess Apple had to send me a separate watch that was running, an early copy of watchOS 10.1. All new watches shipping are now version 10.0. But the function itself is very simple. You reboot to wake up, Double Tap Demo, then double tap your fingers together
to control what's happening on the watch screen. This is basically most useful in instances
where your other hand is full. Maybe you're wearing something or walking your dog.
or you're cooking and your hand is dirty. Something like that, whatever. But when you actually do it, it's basically set up to either select the primary button in whatever app you're in, or advance through the stack of widgets in a Siri Smart Stack. If you're receiving a call, double tap to accept it. It's the main button. When you're in the call, another double tap ends it, satisfyingly. In the past, if one hand was busy, nose tap. Not alone in this practice.
so you can't judge me. But I support this kind of solution
to this issue. And honestly, it's very accurate. Very few false triggers.
I know I have to wait a second after reboot to wake up the double tap,
but it's consistent. It is very good.
What's not new here is that an accessibility setting called Touch Assist has been added. I think since Apple Watch Series 6, designed for people who don't have another hand to use Apple Watch. Therefore, they must be able to control it with one hand. And so there is a double pinch, there is a single pinch, there is a clenched fist and a double clenched fist. Why press twice?

In my limited experience, having turned it on and tested it on other watches, it works quite well when you are very thoughtful about it. But the official reason why this double tap is new,
and is therefore only available on these new generations of watches and not on the oldest generation of watches,
is the best thing Apple has ever done. Okay, ready? Basically, the algorithm that does all the processing of all the data from the sensors, like the sensors in old watches, is much more complex and heavier, so it can`t run on the S8 now. .
or an older piece of silicone. Only S9. Yes, actually. So it happens. This is unprecedented. This is according to the opening speech. They're usually pretty good at delivering on such promises, but currently that doesn't come with a watch. Neutral Carbon Either way, it's something that's both useful and clearly foreshadows the next Apple Vision Pro, whose main gesture will be to select items by bringing your thumb and index finger together.
Honestly, this is one of the most attractive things about this watch. But the other cool thing is that, when combined with one of these sports bands, the Apple Watch is Apple's first completely carbon-neutral product.
carbon neutral.
This is perhaps the most impressive thing about this entire watch. This includes all materials,
energy and emissions are used to make it, assemble it, package it and deliver it to your door. And that's all the energy actually needed to operate the device over the owner's lifetime. It's absurd. This is extremely impressive. I take their word for it. I want to dig deeper into this later, but it's also something I hope other companies start copying. So here's the problem. Do you know what Apple did with other product categories . They would have a major upgrade in silicon and the same old design as before, then the next generation they would update the product design? it with the MacBook Air .
I think and hope that the MacBook Pro is in line with the rumors . This is exactly what is happening with the Apple Watch. This is what we have wanted for a long time. Let's get back to it.

Conclusion

This watch is essentially the same as last year, and this watch looks the same as last year, it looks the same as the year before that, and the year before that.
Same shape, same buttons, same fundamentals. And I understand that if it isn't broke, don't fix it.
It's quite classic. But there are already a lot of things we're waiting / hoping to one day see on the Apple Watch. Maybe a circular redesign, maybe a slightly more classic shape. Perhaps the rotating bezel like we saw on the Galaxy Watch,
Who is sick? Perhaps this is a real leap in battery life. For example, any of these features would be the biggest update to the Apple Watch in years. But it's not like that. This is a change in specifications.
